If
you read our "about us" link, you will find we are
an actual security company, not just your typical
on-line "security store” selling everything from
pepper spray, silly security gadgets or harmful
weapons. I am the owner and have been in this
business for over 30 years and will give you a very
candid an honest reply. Our company is not engaged
in selling any surveillance cameras that record
conversations. Although we could state that we are
not responsible what somebody does with one of our
cameras we would still be open to a lawsuit when a
sharp
attorney
decides to sue
everybody involved Including the
manufacturer and
the company that
sold the product. We may be found
not liable but that does not prevent us from being
sued and spending money defending ourselves. You
can do some simple research on the internet yourself
to confirm that in
MOST cases it is
strictly illegal to record anyone's
conversations,
especially
surreptitiously with a hidden camera.
Here is a statement we found while doing some
research that basically sums this up.
Very often, the audio picked up by a video camera is
covered by the same laws as wiretapping and
eavesdropping. Those laws vary by state. There is
a general rule, however, that applies to the kind of
conversations a business security camera or
nanny-cam
would pick up:
"Regardless of the state,
it is almost always
illegal to record a conversation to
which you are not a party, do not have consent to
tape and could not naturally overhear". Should you
confront somebody with recorded evidence of wrong
doing such as theft or other undesirable acts, i.e.,
a nanny whose behavior you disagree with and the
party is aware you recorded their conversation, in a
very short time either they will or be advised
accordingly to hire a lawyer and or contact the
police and you will be in very serious trouble.
In most states it is a felony.
My
advice is to be very careful. The Safe Home Covert Camera (SHCC1)
Capture Camera or the Lux Werks surveillance systems
are fantastic products and I'm sure you don't need
to record audio (conversations) to achieve your
objective.
